As well as the multiple trades associated with Needle making, Redditch residents were employed in a whole range of trades and professions. From analysis the census records we are able to show the variety of such employment.
In days before widespread education for the young, social welfare and pensions many Redditch inhabitants started their working life at an early age and worked on well passed what we now accept as a reasonable retirement age. The people affected by such a working life are illustrated here.
Here also, are details of the residents who lived and worked in streets lost to development & modernisation over the last 175 years.
